Shreveport, Louisiana  based blues band The Bluebirds performed at Deep Ellum Blues with special guest Miki Honeycutt. This band has been rockin'  blues festivals and night clubs abroad for over 20 years and they just keep getting better.

Don't miss the Bluebirds at the Texas Blues Festival, Saturday April 29 in Tyler Texas.

The Bluebirds have released their third CD, "Highway 80 East" which has been aired on 350 radio stations and on XM Deep Ellum District, Dallas TX and SIRIUS blues channels.

Guitar/Vocals - Buddy Flett, Bassist-Bruce Flett and Drummer- Kevin Smith begin another set.

Singer Miki Honeycutt joins in for a set.

One of Buddy's guitars is a Stratocaster with a P-90 pickup in the bridge position, a single in the mid  and no pickup in the bridge position. Cool guitar Buddy!

"30 years ago I heard Miki Honeycutt sing in a club in Shreveport Louisiana, she was 18 at the time and a knocked out "rock and pop" singer...

Saturday night at the Deep Ellum Blues,  Miki had an air of sassy confidence typical of seasoned veterans. She sang with a soulful honesty that only comes from the heart. Miki looked great and sang even better. She sang Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and Bonnie Raitt tunes in her own unique style. She did a superb job on "Not by man alone" and "Don't cry for me" two songs from her 1989 CD on the Rounder Label. "

Her back up band " The Bluebirds" is a "tight" polished, well respected three piece blues band. . The group has three highly acclaimed CD's. Check out their web site thebluebirds.net

Being a musician I was blown away by Guitarist Buddy Flett's slide playing. Guitar Magazine said he is a "textbook study in taste and tone". "The Bluebirds" is a must see if you are a serious blues lover.
